Journey on the Underground Railroad at Show House!

Wednesday at Show House is Designer Day, where the renowned designers visit with guests during the Show House tour. A special addition is our Historic Series, where we partner with educators from Historic Newton. On Wednesday May 11th, come discover the stories of brave men and women who dared to free themselves from slavery, and learn that the Nathaniel Allen House was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Discover why people risked their lives and their livelihood to help freedom seekers!

Introducing Newton History

A special addition is our Historic Series, where we partner with educators from Historic Newton. On Wednesday May 18th, learn about Newton’s rich and varied past from a Historic Newton educator. This talk with visuals traces Newton’s history beginning with the Native people who originally settled in the area, to the founding of Newton in the 17th century, through the 20th century. We also include a history of the families who once lived in the historic homes and grounds that now house our museums.

Wednesday at Show House is Designer Day, where the renowned designers visit with guests during the Show House tour. A special addition is our Historic Series, where we partner with educators from Historic Newton. On Wednesday May 25th, join an educator from Historic Newton for a talk with visuals that samples some of Newton’s hundreds of beautiful historic homes through old and new photographs. Learn how changes in society and daily life over the centuries spurred changes in architecture. Hear stories of some of the fascinating people who once lived in these homes.
