President’s Message

Welcome to the Junior League of Boston!

Since attending my first meeting in the summer of 2000, I have been inspired by the history of this organization and caliber of the women who serve it.

While the world has changed dramatically since our founding in 1906, over the years our members have been driven by a single mission. As an organization of women, we are committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We are also committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations and communities, and we welcome all women who value our mission.  Today, the Junior League of Boston is one of 291 Leagues serving across four countries forming the oldest, largest, and most effective women’s volunteer organization.

As civic leaders in Boston, our vision is for every girl to have the skills and confidence to thrive in life. Our members volunteer their weeknights and Saturday mornings to engage girls throughout the city. They inspire them to live healthy lives and to be confident individuals; encourage them to communicate with one another; and provide opportunities for them to explore new interests.  With 9 separate programs for girls running in 6 different neighborhoods, our members are having a direct impact on the lives of over 200 girls every year.  Our volunteer hours also support more than 50 organizations around the city who share our mission and vision for the community and last year we awarded $20,000 in community grants to 9 local non-profit organizations.

Over the past 17 years, I have fully embraced the concept of lifelong membership and hope to inspire others to do the same.  Developing the potential of women is a central component of our mission that allows our impact to expand exponentially.  The skills I have developed and the lessons I have learned as a member of the Junior League of Boston have propelled my career in the pharmaceutical industry and allowed me to serve on the board of other non-profit organizations.

You can help us in our efforts to learn about and address the needs of the Boston community and to develop the potential of women and girls by attending our fundraising events, joining over 900 women as a member, or making a donation.  It is a great honor for me to serve and represent the Junior League of Boston as its President.  Please reach out to me at president@jlboston.org with your ideas on how we may collaborate or be more impactful together.

Warm Regards,

Karen Page
