After a couple years in the making, the Training Council officially kicked off the JL Boston Mentorship Program in January, and mentors and mentees got together to start this year-long program. The Program is intended to strengthen relationships between newer and more senior members. All members in attendance were excited about the journey ahead, as these partnerships are expected to make the League experience more fulfilling and rewarding.

The Training Council planned activities and conversations for the pairs to get to learn more about one another. Mentors and mentees took time to share about themselves on a personal level, as well as their involvement with the League. All members were encouraged to openly discuss what they hoped to gain from their mentorship experience, and ways to keep communication strong throughout the year. Mentees will be able to increase their knowledge of navigating the League and all it has to offer its members, as well as gain insight into leadership roles. By offering guidance, mentors will be leaders within the League as they help equip fellow members with skills to accomplish League-wide goals.

The formal program lasts one year, and the pairs will meet monthly. Additionally, the Training Council will organize events for all members of the Mentorship Program to meet every other month. The inaugural class of the Mentorship Program will work together through the end of 2018, but it is hoped that that they will continue their friendships beyond the conclusion of the program.
