Historic Houses of Newton

Wednesday at Show House is Designer Day, where the renowned designers visit with guests during the Show House tour. A special addition is our Historic Series, where we partner with educators from Historic Newton. On Wednesday May 25th, join an educator from Historic Newton for a talk with visuals that samples some of Newton’s hundreds of beautiful historic homes through old and new photographs. Learn how changes in society and daily life over the centuries spurred changes in architecture. Hear stories of some of the fascinating people who once lived in these homes.

Each Historic Newton event is free of charge with admission to Show House.

DISCOVER ORIENTAL RUGS IN INTERIOR DECOR

Oriental rugs – both traditional and fascinating contemporary designs – can be used to enhance any interior décor. The more you know about the history of Oriental rugs and how they are made, the better able you will be to choose rugs that fit the design in your home as well as your lifestyle. Gerard “Jerry” Arcari of Landry & Arcari is a noted expert on Oriental rugs and broadloom carpeting, with 40 years of experience in the field. Come and enjoy an informative talk with a speaker who has been recognized throughout the industry for many years.

BRINGING SHOW HOUSE STYLE HOME

Homes Editor for New England Home and interiors stylist, Stacy Kunstel, will reveal how to achieve a “Show House Ready” look in your own home. Kunstel will share her styling tips on accessories, flowers, and furniture arrangement – plus more stylist secrets she’s learned from managing hundreds of magazine photo shoots. After her presentation, guests will have the opportunity to have their own interior styling questions answered.

With more than 80 magazine and book covers to her credit, Stacy Kunstel’s work has appeared in Traditional Home, Coastal Living, New England Home, Better Homes & Gardens, Luxe, Country Living, Country Home, Beautiful Kitchens & Baths, the London Observer, Harper’s Bazaar UK and a dozen others. She balances photoshoots and writing about interiors while designing and growing the lifestyle lighting and furniture brand Dunes and Duchess. You can find her on Instagram as Dunes and Duchess.

Tickets at $50 for non-member and $25 for members include Show House Admission and a wine and cheese reception with the speaker.
