BOSTON, February 23, 2016 – The Junior League of Boston today announced that the TripAdvisor Charitable Foundation has awarded the organization a $24,700 grant to expand its successful programming, and continue impacting the Greater Boston community. The grant is the largest the organization has received in several years and will be used to grow strategic initiatives, increase external funding for community programs, and extend neighborhood reach. Specifically, the grant will be used to expand one of the organization’s signature programs, Leader Within, to the Blue Hill Boys & Girls Club in Dorchester in early 2016 and further expand healthy eating initiatives in the Arts program. Each year the Junior League directly serves approximately 500 girls, indirectly benefits thousands more, and provides leadership training to nearly one thousand women in the Boston area.

This grant comes at an important time, during which the Junior League of Boston is significantly increasing the scale of our community impact. It allows us to advance our exceptional programs by developing new curricula, expanding existing sessions, and negotiating new partnerships,” said Valerie Pontiff, Junior League of Boston President 2015-2016.

On Saturday February 27^th, the Junior League invites members of the greater Boston community to celebrate 110 years of service to greater Boston by attending the Gilded Gala at the storied Algonquin Club on Commonwealth Avenue. Through community support, JL Boston’s direct service programs are possible. One of the honorees will be Isabelle Plante, Junior League of Boston member and coordinator of the TripAdvisor Charitable Foundation grant. “As the co-chair of JL Boston Arts and an entrepreneur in curricula development that enables confident female leaders, Isabelle has elevated JL Boston’s mission,” said Pamela Lynch, President-Elect 2015-2016.
