160506 - Antiques Appraisal Evening with Tremont Auctions (1)

Newton’s own Tremont Auctions will host an “Antiques Appraisal Evening” at Show House with three specialists who have a combined experience of more than 120 years appraising all categories of antiques and fine art. James Callahan, Director of Asian Art at Tremont Auctions has been a featured appraiser on the “Antiques Roadshow” for the past 20 seasons; Brett Downer is a 40-year veteran of the antiques field, and Doug Stinson, son of well-known antiques auctioneer Carl Stinson, has 35 years of hands-on experience and specializes in American antiques and fine art.

Join these outstanding speakers and appraisers for a fun evening of discovery while also visiting the Show House. Learn about the antiques marketplace and the technologies that have revolutionized the industry. Each person who attends can bring one item for a free verbal appraisal. Categories of items suggested include: Asian objects of all types, fine art, sterling silver, bronzes, ceramics including Arts & Crafts pottery, textiles, or other objet d’art. Items discouraged based upon time constraints and research considerations include: stamps and coins, modern weaponry and jewelry. Photographs of larger items or fragile items are also acceptable.

The event is free of charge with admission to Show House.
